We are pleased to announce that our launch event – which took place on Tuesday, September 8th – was a very special occasion. Held in the Edinburgh City Art Centre, it was attended by a wide variety of supporters, past and present participants and special guests.
Ken Barclay, of RBS, and Chairman of the Board of The Lens, hosted the evening and several speeches were made, including one by special guest Fergus Ewing MSP, who officially launched The Lens. He spoke warmly on the subject of innovation, saying 'you've got to get in and about things' to create change and discover solutions.
Steve McCreadie, CEO of The Lens, created a highlight of the evening, challenging guests to change their perspectives, quite literally, but putting on "diffraction" glasses. It was a moment that encapsulated The Lens, which as an organisation, is both a concept and a tool which promotes innovative thinking to make positive change.
The Lens' first four partner organisations, Cornerstone, Loretto Care, Prince Trust and Carers Trust all brought teams. Hazel Brown of Cornerstone, the first partner to sign up in 2015 explained why The Lens was a much-needed addition to the third sector and why they were excited to be on board.
Mr Barclay then closed the evening by looking ahead to the future and the future innovations The Lens would lead to.
It was a highly enjoyable night and we would like to thank all those who attended, especially our speakers and Mr Ewing for launching our organisation.
